Does Invisalign Change Your Face Shape?
Invisalign and braces can subtly change your face by moving teeth, which changes lip support and how your lips and lower face look in profile. They don't change your bone structure or face shape.
What can change
- Lip position: moving front teeth back or forward changes lip fullness and projection.
- Smile: a corrected bite can change how your smile looks.
- Profile: in some cases, correcting an overbite makes the lower face look more balanced.
What can't
Aligners move teeth, not the jaw bone. Your face shape, jaw width and cheekbones stay the same. Major jaw changes need orthognathic surgery.
Talk to your orthodontist about what to expect. This article isn't medical advice.
Frequently asked questions
Can Invisalign make my jawline sharper?
Not directly. It moves teeth, not bone, though a better bite can change how the lower face looks.
