Facial Proportions Calculator
Artists and surgeons describe faces with two simple rules. The **rule of thirds**: hairline-to-brow, brow-to-nose and nose-to-chin are roughly equal. The **rule of fifths**: the face is about five eye-widths wide. Upload a photo to see how your face measures up on both.

Facial thirds
| Third | From | To |
|---|---|---|
| Upper | Hairline | Brow (glabella) |
| Middle | Brow | Base of the nose |
| Lower | Base of the nose | Chin |
Within the lower third, the distance from your nose to your lips is ideally half the distance from your lips to your chin.
Facial fifths
Divide the face vertically into five equal parts: each eye takes one fifth, the gap between the eyes is one fifth, and the space from each outer eye corner to the side of the face is one fifth.
The model doesn't see your hairline, so your upper third is estimated.

Frequently asked questions
What are ideal facial proportions?
Equal facial thirds and a face about five eye-widths wide are classic artistic guidelines. Real faces vary a lot.
