How the age guesser works
We use an open-source age estimation model (GEAR, via the Human library) that runs in your browser. It was trained on large sets of faces labeled with age and predicts the age a face most resembles. Your photo is never uploaded.
Why the result can be off
- Lighting: harsh light shows texture and can add years; soft light removes them.
- Expression: smiling creates lines that some models read as age.
- Image quality: blurry or heavily filtered photos confuse the model.
- Bias: age models are less accurate for groups underrepresented in their training data.

Your photo stays on your device
