How to measure your face
- Forehead: measure across your forehead at its widest point, usually halfway between your eyebrows and hairline, from hairline to hairline.
- Cheekbones: measure across your cheekbones from the outer corner of one eye to the outer corner of the other, over the highest point of the cheekbones (the "points" under the outer eye corners).
- Jawline: measure from the tip of your chin to the corner of your jaw below your ear, then multiply by two. Our calculator does this for you: just enter the one side.
- Face length: measure from the center of your hairline straight down to the tip of your chin.
How the calculator decides
| If… | Your face shape is likely… |
|---|---|
| Length is 1.5× width or more, forehead ≈ cheekbones ≈ jaw | Oblong (or rectangle with a sharp jaw) |
| Length ≈ width, cheeks widest, soft jaw | Round |
| Length ≈ width, everything similar, sharp jaw | Square |
| Cheekbones widest, forehead > jaw, length ≈ 1.5× | Oval |
| Forehead widest, narrow jaw | Heart (or inverted triangle) |
| Cheekbones widest, narrow forehead and jaw | Diamond |
| Jaw widest, narrow forehead | Triangle / pear |
