Heart vs Diamond Face Shape (and Diamond vs Oval)
Heart and diamond faces both narrow to a small chin. The difference is the forehead: a heart face has a wide forehead, while a diamond face has a narrow forehead with the cheekbones as the clear widest point.
Heart vs diamond
| Heart | Diamond | |
|---|---|---|
| Forehead | Wide | Narrow |
| Widest point | Forehead / cheekbones | Cheekbones |
| Chin | Narrow, pointed | Narrow, pointed |
| Hairline | Often widow's peak | Narrow |
Heart vs oval
An oval face has a softer, rounded chin and a forehead only slightly wider than the jaw. A heart face tapers more sharply to a pointed chin.
Styling differences
- Heart: side-swept bangs to narrow the forehead, volume at the chin.
- Diamond: fringes to widen the forehead, volume at the chin.
